چکیده

Elementary cellular automata (ECA) rule 9 and rule 74, members of Wolfram’s class II, could generate a host of gliders and complicated glider collisions by introducing the hybrid mechanism, which are much richer than those generated by ECA rule 110. A systematic analysis is carried out to show the simulation results.

Glider Collisions in Hybrid Cellular Automaton Rules

Elementary cellular automaton (ECA) rules 9 and 74, members of Chua’s Bernoulli shift rules and Wolfram’s class 2, can generate a host of gliders and complicated glider collisions by introducing the hybrid mechanism. These gliders and collisions are more plentiful than those generated by ECA rule 110. This paper presents a discussion of the symbolic dynamics of the gliders in hybrid cellular au...

Glider Dynamics in 3-Value Hexagonal Cellular Automata: The Beehive Rule

We present a 3-value cellular automaton which supports gliders, glider-guns and self-reproduction or self-destruction by glider collisions. The complex dynamics emerge spontaneously in both 2d and 3d according to the 6-neighbor, k-totalistic, “beehive” rule; the 2d dynamics on a hexagonal lattice is examined in detail. We show how analogous complex rules can be found, firstly by mutating a comp...

Localization Dynamics in a Binary Two-Dimensional Cellular Automaton: The Diffusion Rule

We study a two-dimensional cellular automaton (CA), called Diffusion Rule (DR), which exhibits diffusion-like dynamics of propagating patterns. In computational experiments we discover a wide range of mobile and stationary localizations (gliders, oscillators, glider guns, puffer trains, etc), analyze spatio-temporal dynamics of collisions between localizations, and discuss possible applications...

Edge Detection Based On Nearest Neighbor Linear Cellular Automata Rules and Fuzzy Rule Based System

Edge Detection is an important task for sharpening the boundary of images to detect the region of interest. This paper applies a linear cellular automata rules and a Mamdani Fuzzy inference model for edge detection in both monochromatic and the RGB images. In the uniform cellular automata a transition matrix has been developed for edge detection. The Results have been compared to the ...

The X-Rule: Universal Computation in a Non-Isotropic Life-Like Cellular Automaton

We present a new Life-like cellular automaton (CA) capable of logic universality – the X-rule. The CA is 2D, binary, with a Moore neighborhood and λ parameter similar to the game-of-Life, but is not based on birth/survival and is non-isotropic. We outline the search method. Several glider types and stable structures emerge spontaneously within X-rule dynamics. We construct glider-guns based on ...
